I started dreaming of her.
At first, it was faint — just a voice humming beneath the sound of waves. Then the images came: a woman in a white dress, standing on the edge of the rocks, the lantern in her hand flickering wildly.
Every night, the same vision — until I could almost feel the salt wind on my skin and the pull of the sea at my feet.
I didn’t tell Elliot at first. I thought it was exhaustion, or the isolation getting to me. But one morning, when I described my dream to him, his face turned pale.
“That’s exactly how she looked… the night she left.”
The words struck deep. The dreams weren’t just mine — they were memories that didn’t belong to me.
That night, I went outside, standing where Maeve once stood. The tide was low, the sea whispering secrets it had kept too long.
I whispered back, “What do you want me to see?”
And for a moment, I swore I saw her — not as a ghost, but as a reflection in the waves, reaching toward the lighthouse.
Behind me, the light flared brighter than ever. Elliot’s voice echoed faintly through the mist:
“Some truths, Lara… aren’t meant to stay buried.”
