๐Ÿ“–  It’s been years since anyone tended the old lighthouse.


Tourists come and go, snapping photos of the weathered tower that once stood guard against the storm. They say it’s haunted — that at night, a light still flickers from the top even though there’s no one there.


I returned not as a nurse this time, but as a writer. I carried with me the journal I kept during my time with Elliot — pages of words he would never read.


Inside the keeper’s room, the air still smelled faintly of oil and salt. The lantern sat where I left it, glass cracked but intact.


I placed the journal beside it and whispered:


> “Your story won’t be forgotten.”




The waves below crashed gently, as if in response.


When the sun began to set, the sea turned gold. I watched the horizon shimmer — and for a moment, I thought I saw him again, standing by the cliffs with Maeve at his side.


They turned toward me, smiling, before fading into the light.


I left the lighthouse door open as I walked away, the wind carrying their story across the sea.


And when I looked back one last time…

the lantern glowed — softly, like a heart still beating.
