🌙🕯️ Episode 4 — “When the House Breathed”

Confession Series #4: The House on Lavender Hill

Taglish Vlogger-Style Emotional Seductive Narrative

> “May mga sandali na hindi mo alam kung iniibig ka ba… o iniimbita ka nang tuluyan sa pagkabaliw.”

Ako si Joyce,

and this is where Lavender Hill stopped feeling like a project…

and started feeling like someone I couldn’t say no to.

---

THE TOUCH OF SILENCE

The morning after the typewriter incident…

iba ang hangin sa loob ng bahay.

Mainit.

Mabigat.

Parang humihinga.

Habang naglalakad ako sa hallway,

I swear, boss…

the air brushed against my skin

like fingers sliding slowly along my arm.

Not cold.

Not frightening.

Pero intimate.

Parang may gumigising sa isang parte ng katawan ko

na matagal nang natutulog.

At sa dulo ng hallway —

portrait ni Clara.

Pero ngayon, iba ang pakiramdam.

Her eyes no longer felt watchful.

Parang… approving.

As if she knew something was happening.

Something I wasn’t ready to admit.

---

THOMAS AT THE DOORWAY

Pababa ako sa main hall

nang nakita ko si Thomas,

nakatayo sa may bintana,

hawak ang mug of tea,

pero hindi umiinom.

He looked tired.

Broken.

But there was a softness in his gaze

that wasn’t there before.

Nagkatinginan kami.

Hindi mahaba.

Pero sapat para tumigil ang tibok ng puso ko.

> “You didn’t sleep.”

he said quietly.

> “Ikaw rin,” sagot ko.

Hindi kami ngumiti.

Pero may unspoken pull sa pagitan namin —

warm, slow, at medyo mapanganib.

---

THE HOUSE BREATHES

Naglakad ako papunta sa library

para tingnan ang typewriter.

Pero bago pa ako makapasok,

the door moved.

Dahan-dahan.

Parang may taong nagbukas para sa akin.

And the moment I stepped inside…

the air shifted.

Warm.

Parang humaplos sa batok ko,

sumuway sa collar ng suot kong sweater,

and traced the skin beneath it.

Boss…

napakapit talaga ako sa mesa.

Hindi ito hangin.

Hindi ito imagination.

It felt like touch.

A presence.

A longing that wasn’t mine alone.

---

THE MIRROR

Napalingon ako sa side table.

May maliit na antique mirror.

At doon ko siya nakita.

Not a ghost.

Not Clara.

Ako.

Pero hindi ako ang expression.

My reflection looked… different.

Eyes half-soft,

lips slightly parted,

cheeks warmed as if someone had whispered something

too close to resist.

And then—

in the reflection behind me—

I saw a silhouette.

Tall.

Male.

Still.

But when I turned…

wala namang tao.

Except my own breathing,

getting a little too deep.

---

THE CONFESSION THAT WASN’T MINE

Bumalik ako sa typewriter.

May papel na naman.

Fresh.

Mainit pa sa dulo,

as if sinulatan seconds ago.

I picked it up.

A single line.

“He wants to touch you… but he’s afraid you’ll disappear if he does.”

Boss…

I felt that straight in my spine.

And when I stepped back,

Thomas was suddenly in the doorway.

Watching me.

Quiet.

Breathing slightly heavier

than normal.

---

THE MOMENT BETWEEN US

He didn’t ask why I was trembling.

He didn’t need to.

Because when his eyes dropped

to the letter in my hands,

then slowly lifted back to mine…

it was like the house held its breath.

And so did I.

ITUTULOY...
