The Stories of Us - Episode 22 – The Letter of Truth

 

I could no longer hide. For years, I watched her from the shadows—silently tracing every step of her downfall, every fight for survival, every attempt to stand up again. I told myself I’d wait for the right time, but when I saw her breaking apart in front of me… I knew that time was now.


That night, I wrote her a letter. My hands trembled as I put words to the truth I carried for decades.

The Leter 

"You may not remember me… or perhaps, you’ve chosen to forget. I was the boy with torn clothes, bare feet, and a hunger that mocked me every day. I was the one you mocked too, the one you called dirty, worthless. But you see, I never hated you. Not once. Because even in those moments, I saw the world in your smile—something I could never have but longed for anyway.


*Life separated us. I disappeared, but I never truly left. I saw you stumble, I saw you fight, and I saw you fall. And each time, my heart ached, wishing I could take your pain away.


Today, you work under this roof, not knowing the owner’s eyes have never stopped following you. Yes… it’s me. I am the boy you once knew. And no matter how cruel the world has been, I want you to know—this story doesn’t end in shame. Not for you. Not for us.*”


I slipped the letter under her locker that night. My chest felt like it would explode. Would she hate me? Would she run? Or… would she finally see that even broken beginnings can lead to love?
