> Moving to the city felt like starting all over again.
The noise, the traffic, the lights — everything was louder, faster, and more distant than home.
After a few good years in San Juan, Janice and I decided to try our luck in Antipolo.
We sold part of our land and opened a small trading business.
I kept working at sea, while she managed everything on land.
At first, everything seemed perfect.
The condo we rented overlooked the city — lights that danced every night like stars that never slept.
Janice loved the view. “It feels like we’ve made it,” she told me once, as we stood by the balcony.
I smiled, believing her words.
But deep inside, I knew the distance was growing again.
My ship kept sailing farther, my contracts got longer, and the spaces between our calls grew wider.
We had everything we prayed for —
but sometimes, even blessings can build walls between two hearts.
