Sundays turned into fiestas, and visits became invitations.
Janice’s family would welcome me during gatherings — her mother offering food, her father telling stories about the farm.
There was laughter, music, and that familiar scent of kinilaw and roasted fish that always meant home.

Our friendship deepened with every visit.
We would sit on the hills overlooking the coconut fields, talking about our dreams — mine at sea, hers in a small family store she hoped to expand one day.

Jude and Mariel were always around. Jude would joke that I was becoming “a permanent supplier of smiles,” while Mariel teased Janice for blushing whenever my name was mentioned.

It was pure — simple, honest, untouched by the noise of the world.

Those were the days I didn’t need promises or grand gestures. Just the sound of her laughter carried by the wind over the hills —
and that was enough to make me believe in forever.
