📍 Manila International Container Port | Year: 2024


> That morning, Manila was grey.

The sky hung low over the cranes, and the smell of salt and metal filled the air.


I was preparing for departure — the start of another voyage, another chapter.

My crew was busy checking the lines, final cargo tallies, and clearance papers.

But something inside me felt… unsettled.

Like a shadow from the past standing just beyond sight.


From the pier, unseen by me, Janice stood behind the fence — carrying the child that wasn’t mine, yet once part of the life we dreamed of.


She didn’t call out.

She didn’t move.

She just stood there, watching as the ship’s horn broke the silence.


I never knew she was there.


As the vessel slowly drifted away from the port, the city lights began to fade.

And maybe that’s how it was meant to end —

not with anger, not with words,

but with distance… and forgiveness whispered to the wind.


Because sometimes, the only goodbye you get…

is the sound of the ocean carrying your name away.
