📍 Boracay Island | Year: 2019


> I booked the trip months ahead — a short vacation before my next voyage.

Just the two of us, like the old days.


Janice seemed hesitant at first, but I insisted.

“We need this,” I said. “You and me, no work, no worries.”


The island was perfect — white sand, calm waves, sunsets that painted the world gold.

We laughed, took pictures, even danced barefoot on the shore.

For a while, it felt like we had found our rhythm again.


But every time I looked into her eyes, there was distance.

Like she was somewhere else — someone else’s.


One night, while we watched the fire dancers, I caught her staring blankly at the sea.

I asked softly, “Are you happy, Jan?”

She smiled — the kind of smile that hides more than it shows.


“Of course,” she said.


But even then, the sound of the waves couldn’t drown the truth:

Sometimes, love doesn’t end in anger…

It just fades quietly, like a tide that never comes back.
