As I studied, worked, and tried to rebuild myself, I still found ways to know her story. Through whispers of neighbors, through distant relatives, I heard how her family—once untouchable—fell into ruins. Wrong choices, a tragic accident, and then… almost nothing left.
A part of me thought it was justice. Wasn’t this the same humiliation she gave me before? But that thought never lasted. What stayed was pity. What stayed was pain.
One afternoon, I saw her again—not face to face, but from afar. She was working as a cashier, hair messy, eyes tired, yet her posture still carried the pride she once had. My feet wanted to move, but they froze. I couldn’t say a word.
From that day, I became her silent shadow. I learned where she worked, how long she stayed, when she failed, when she tried again. She never knew… but I was always there, quietly watching.
And with every step she took downward, my chest tightened. Not with joy, not with revenge—but with an ache I couldn’t explain.
