Confession (Narrator - The Man)
I still remember those days in the slums of Tondo, when life was harsh and dreams felt unreachable. I was the boy who went to school with torn clothes, barefoot, and dark from the sun. I became the target of her jokes—the girl from a wealthy family. She laughed with her friends when they saw my broken slippers, when my stomach grumbled in class. I hated myself for being poor, but deep inside, I never hated her.
She was beautiful, smart, confident—everything I was not. Maybe that’s why her words cut deeper than any wound. She called me “the ragged boy.” And though I tried to ignore it, those words haunted me every night.
I thought to myself: Someday, I’ll prove them all wrong.
That was the beginning of my silent promise—the fire that kept me going.
