The Stories of Us - Episode 8 – The Rise

 

Years passed, and I watched her transformation with quiet pride.


From the woman who once swept the hallways, she became someone new. She never stopped studying — late nights, countless exams, endless sacrifices. I was there in the shadows, making sure she had enough time, making sure she never lost her chance.


The day of her graduation, I stood at the back of the crowd. She was in a simple gown, tears streaming down her face as her name was called. She held her diploma like it was the most precious treasure in the world.


Nobody knew, but I was clapping the loudest in my heart.


After that, she was no longer just “the janitor.” HR called her in, and she was offered a new position — a chance to use the education she fought so hard to earn. She looked shocked, hesitant, but her eyes shone with pride.


Each step she took was like watching a new chapter of her life unfold. And every time, I was there, unseen, silently pushing her forward.


But fate had more plans. One day, her promotion required her to report directly to the CEO’s office. My office.


And as I waited for her to walk through those doors, my hands trembled.


After all these years, the moment I had both feared and longed for had finally come.
