The Stories of Us - Episode 12 – The Confession

It happened on a rainy night.

Most of the employees had already gone home, but she stayed behind, finishing a report. I walked into the office quietly, only to see her by the window, staring at the rain. Her eyes carried both sadness and peace — a strange mix that drew me in.

“You’re still here,” I said gently.

She smiled faintly.

“I didn’t want to go home yet. The rain feels… comforting somehow.”

I stood beside her, listening to the raindrops tapping against the glass. For a long time, neither of us spoke. The silence was heavy, but not unbearable. It was the kind of silence that begged for words to break it.

Finally, I turned to her. My chest tightened, my hands shook, but I couldn’t hold it anymore.

“I need to tell you something.”

She looked at me, her eyes wide, waiting.

“All my life, I thought I wanted revenge. I thought if I ever saw you again, I would make you feel the pain you gave me. But when life brought you back into mine, and I saw your struggles… I realized something.”

My voice cracked. I swallowed hard, fighting the tears that threatened to fall.

“I never stopped caring for you. Through the years, through the pain, even when I told myself I hated you… my heart never let go.”

Her lips parted, but no words came. Her eyes glistened with tears.

I took a deep breath, stepping closer.

“I love you. I always have. And no matter what happened before, what matters now… is the woman in front of me.”

The tears spilled from her eyes as she whispered, her voice trembling:

“After everything I did to you… how can you still love me?”

I reached out, gently wiping her tears.

“Because love doesn’t count the scars. It heals them.”

The rain outside poured harder, but inside, something finally broke free. She leaned against me, sobbing, and I held her — not as the boy she once mocked, not as the CEO she now respected, but as the man who chose to love her still.
