After that day, something changed between us.


She still avoided my eyes at first, embarrassed whenever we crossed paths in the office. But little by little, the walls began to fall. I noticed her smile more often. She started greeting people with a quiet confidence I hadn’t seen in her before.


One evening, I found her still at her desk, struggling with a report. She looked exhausted, rubbing her temples. Without thinking, I sat beside her.

“Need help?” I asked.


She hesitated, then laughed softly.

“You’re the CEO. You don’t have time to fix my mistakes.”


I shook my head.

“I have time… if it’s for you.”


She froze, her cheeks warming. For a moment, the years between us melted away — it was just me and her again, like the children we once were, except older, scarred, but somehow… better.


We began to share small moments after that. Coffee breaks turned into conversations. Conversations turned into laughter. And laughter turned into something deeper — a feeling I thought I had buried long ago.


There were nights I’d walk her home, the city lights glowing around us. She would talk about her dreams — finishing her studies, becoming someone her younger self would finally be proud of.


And I realized… this wasn’t about the past anymore. This was about what we could still build together.


For the first time, I wasn’t just the boy who was once bullied. I was a man standing beside the woman who had changed — and was still changing — right before my eyes.
